As part of MMMay in 2019 and 2020, I’ve set various goals for myself- this year, I’m wondering what I can do to challenge myself!
Last year to celebrate MMMay I founded FatSewing.Club (and the @fatsewing.club instagram account) where I could share fat makers sharing under the MMMayPlus hashtag, which I had kick-started the year before.
Above, are some pictures from my daily photographs from MMMay last year. I really didn’t want to make a lot of work for myself, and we were in lockdown at the time, so I wasn’t leaving the house or wearing shoes most days
Leila and I chatted today on our weekly Patreon chat about our MMMay plans this year- and I’m a bit stuck on what to do that would challenge me. Most days I wear basically 100% me-made, including bralettes and undies. The only thing missing is me-made PJs, but Muna and Broad is working on a fix for that. I do still struggle with ‘fancy outfits’ but I also don’t have much need for them. Working through my UFO projects sounds very dull and I don’t even want to think about it (although it would be a great thing to do)!…
Basically, I’m at a bit of a loss for how I’ll be partaking in MMMay this year!

For Me Made May this year, I pledged to take photos of my outfits and not repeat any outfits and I mostly managed to make good on those aims, apart from on the weekends when I would often wear lounge-wear for most of the weekend whilst sewing or cooking.
I found the month much easier to get through thanks, in no small part, to working-from-home! I shared photos over on my instagram grid and in my stories and although my photos from the month were pretty un-inspiring on the whole, I did have some interesting takeaways about my me-made wardrobe during the month.
I think my main takeaway from week 2 of Me Made May is how much my indecision about shoes slows down getting dressed in the morning. Since I’ve been working from home, I haven’t fundamentally changed the things I wear but not having to choose shoes that are the right fit for my day ahead removes a huge burden!
My aim for Me Made May this year is to keep track of my outfits and not repeat an outfit. I’m hoping that this will help me identify items I wear a lot, gaps in my wardrobe and new combinations of my existing clothes.

Since I started a public Instagram account in January, I’ve decided to go in boots and all and commit myself to Me Made May.

I’ve enjoyed following along with the Me Made May hashtags in previous years, even though I never took part myself. And although it’s not a photo-challenge, lots of folks do take photos of their outfits for a little bit of public accountability. What is Me-Made-May and how does it work? From Zoe’s website: Me-Made-May is a challenge designed to encourage people who make their own clothes to develop a better relationship with their handmade wardrobe. You set the specifics of your own challenge to make it suitable and useful for YOU.
