Ribbed Hexham

The Hexham Dress is the latest pattern from Muna and Broad (M&B email newsletter subscribers get 15% off during launch week)!

The Hexham is a dress with options! For this one, I used the Turtleneck (T6), the longest sleeve, and View B (the cocoon option).

Fabric & consumption The pattern calls for 2.3m of 150cm at my size. That’s pretty accurate but you will have bits leftover if you’re making the crewneck version or the short sleeves (excellent if you’ve got fabric which would make great undies)! This fabric is a heavy ribbed poly/rayon/spandex which has 2 way stretch (it wouldn’t make good undies though). Because it doesn’t stretch downwards, the fabric does a good job of maintaining the shape of the cocoon hem.

I’ve got a few more versions that I’ve made of this very-versatile-dress which I’ll share over the week!

  1. I can’t tell which one I want to try first! I love the pink (could I NOT love pink – I could not not love it!). The red look really good though I can’t tell if I’m loving it because of the sleeves and neck, the color, or the shape. I need to get better using my finicky coverstitch before I make other one!

    1. That’s great! I will say that the pink was an easier sew because the red was quite fussy with my machine, which has biased my opinion for now.

I do love the turtleneck though, so it’s a tough call!
