Sunday plus-size pattern roundup #5
It’s only episode 5 and I’m already posting late because holiday-mode Jess doesn’t keep track of what the days are (since it really doesn’t matter). Here’s a selection of patterns which could go winter or summer, depending what you sew them up in (or wear them with). I know lots of the Southern Hemisphere is having incredibly hot weather, but here in Christchurch a coat would still be a useful addition to my wardrobe! This will be the last roundup post until 2020, see you all there!
Number 1, The Sylvia Coatigan

The Sylvia Coatigan from Schnittchen Patterns
Schnittchen seems little known among plus-size sewists but has a great aesthetic and a growing selection of plus size patterns.
Number 2, Glebe Pants

Glebe Pants from Muna and Broad are available from 46.5″-71.5″ hip and are 15% off until Christmas Day
Number 3, Byrdie Button-Up Blouse

Byrdie Button-Up Blouse + Dress from Pattern Scout
Available up to 54″ full bust and 58″ hip, this pattern includes options for 2 shirt views and 2 dress views
Number 4, The Cambria Duster

Cambria Duster from Friday Pattern Company
As always, I’m keen to hear suggestions! I don’t keep up with Big 4 releases, so perhaps there’s patterns there that you think might be perfect!

All about Ramie

Native to China, ramie is a linen-like fibre made from nettles and which is classified as a cellulose fiber, just like cotton, linen and rayon.
Ramie fibers comes from the stem of a nettle plant called China grass (Boehmeria nivea). It looks similar to European nettle but it does not have prickles.

Sunday plus-size pattern roundup #4
I’m on a dress kick this week for this roundup of inclusive sewing patterns, so I’ve included a bonus pattern at the bottom which is something I’ve been thinking about a lot as the weather gets warmer here in Christchurch! I’m trying to keep on top of all the pattern makers who are extending their sizing, because sometimes it takes ages for me to discover that a pattern company is making things in my size now! Case in point, is dress number 1:
Number 1, Belemnite Dress

The Belemnite Dress from Marilla Walker
This first release of the new extended size range from Marilla Walker at a 58″ bust and 60″ hip
Number 2, Hippolyta Dress

The Hippolyta Dress from Sew Me Something
This pattern squeezes in to the listing with 49″ bust and 52″ hip as the largest size. Check out GariChild’s version for a better idea of the lines
Number 3, Rachel Dress

Rachel front-tie dress from Jalie
Available up to a 51″ bust and 54″ hip this pattern possibly predates a wrap dress which I love, from a NZ designer, but which isn’t in my size!
Number 4, Iris Dress

The Iris dress from StyleArc
Bonus Pattern: Kaye Shorts

Kaye bra and shorts from Seamwork
What a better accompaniment to a roundup of dresses then a pair of shorts that will stop your thighs from touching (and rubbing)!
There’s a review of the pattern over on the CSC and make sure you read Green Violet’s review before you cut in to your fabric!

Sunday plus-size pattern roundup #3
In this 3rd weekly pattern roundup, I’ve included 2 patterns which were recently updated to increase the sizing, a new pattern from a company I didn’t realise was making patterns in my size, and a free jumpsuit pattern!
Just a reminder that in order to be included, the patterns will need to have either bust or hip measurements of over 50″, but preferably they’ll have both. Also, they’re all going to be patterns I’ve already made, intend to make, or would make.
Number 1, LB Pullover

The LB Pullover from Paper Theory
Available now up to a 56″ bust and 57″ hip with turtle neck and crew neck options!
Number 2, A-Frame Skirt

The Blueprints for Sewing A-Frame Skirt
Available now up to 61″ Hip
Number 3, The Ilford Jacket

The Ilford Jacket from Friday Pattern Company
Available up to a 54″ bust and 57″ hip, this unisex design has different views available, and can be worn as a jacket or shirt (depending on your chosen material)!
Number 4, Jumpsuit

Free Jumpsuit Patterns from the Rational Dress Society
JUMPSUIT is an ungendered, multi-use monogarment, available as an open-source pattern. The RDS has developed a sizing system that can accommodate up to 248 different body types using gender-neutral terminology.

Sunday plus-size pattern roundup #2
Here’s a special Southern Hemisphere roundup, with some pattern companies from Australia and New Zealand!
Number 1, The Cornell Shirt

The Cornell Shirt from Elbe Textiles
This is a relatively new unisex pattern which has lots of wearing ease. The pattern has 2 views, View A features a button up placket, and View B a classic shirt placket.
Number 2, Mānuka dress & top

The Mānuka dress & top from Sewing Muse
Sewing Muse is based out of Wellington, New Zealand. The
Mānuka features flirty sleeves, but not an exceptionally huge size range.Number 3, “Loungewear Camisole”

Number 4, Sabrina pencil skirt

Sabrina pencil skirt from Forget-me-not patterns
Also based out of Wellington, New Zealand, this skirt comes in with straight, mid and curvy-fit options.
Bonus pattern: Undies

Undies and Period Undies from Muna and Broad
A bonus bit of self-promotion about the undies that Leila and I have just released from 46″-71.5″ hip! They’re on pre-sale at the moment!

Sunday plus-size pattern roundup #1
I’ve decided to start a weekly plus-size pattern roundup where every Sunday I’ll share 4 patterns; some new patterns and some old patterns that you might have missed or forgotten about!
What will be included?
This list will be entirely subjectively organised based on things that I like, but I’d love to have your suggestions (because I don’t know every plus-size sewing pattern out there).
In order to be included, the patterns will need to have either bust or hip measurements of over 50″, but preferably they’ll have both.
Without further ado, here’s Sunday plus-size pattern roundup #1

Torrens Box Top is Rust Silk Noil

The lovely Trin from A+R Fabrics sent me this gorgeous brick coloured silk noil which recently arrived in her store. The colour is even more gorgeous in real life- part rust, part rich pumpkin colour and, just like my recent forays in to silk noil, this was a delight to sew.
