Sage Loxton

Sometimes a pattern creeps up on you, and in spite of putting off releasing a leggings pattern for years, 4 more pairs of Loxton Leggings have recently entered my wardrobe!

This sage green fabric is Sage Caress Athletic Fabric from Discovery Fabrics in Canada, who kindly sent me two of their leggings fabrics to try out (I’ve got no obligation to post, etc, etc but you can use code MandB to get $5 off when you shop with them).

This is the more lightweight & ‘summery’ of the two fabrics they sent me and it’s soft, buttery and delicious. It feels so nice on that I’d even be tempted to use it with the Dulcie Boxer Briefs pattern to make chub rub shorts!

Their website skirts around the fact that their fabrics are made at the same place with the same materials as that famous leggings brand that rhymes with Zulu and has a citrus fruit in the name… Which is to say, it’s exactly the same fabric your expensive leggings might be made out of!

I should add a caveat that my crinkled seams are entirely my own sewing fail, nothing to do with the fabric or with the pattern itself. I’m pretty sure it will calm down after a wash (and line dry), and if it doesn’t, my inadvertent lettuce hem isn’t the end of my world since I’ll be wearing these for leggings purposes (as opposed to setting my daily wardrobe up for athleisure).

Worn above with an ancient Tarlee T-shirt, I was really thrilled when I was able to squeeze both pants AND shorts from my yardage. I’m wearing the shorts with a toile of an unreleased oversize tee. I shortened the length on the shorts by an inch-or-so as I wanted them to sit above my knees- and I’m working on normalising the feeling of having so much leg exposed to the wind while I’m walking hounds down the street.
