The Campsie Top is a classic set-in sleeve shell top that’s fitted with a dart and has a rolleau loop and button closure on the back of a jewel neckline. Simple, but classic, the Campsie lends itself to a variety of fabrics and will make great elevated-day wear, excellent office-wear, would be great for evenings in a luxe fabric, and is also infinitely hackable!
I used the 4+ bust option, the regular width sleeve (as opposed to the narrow sleeve), and blended sizes from a Size E out to a Size H through the hip. The sleeve was shortened 3″ compared to the original pattern.
Other than the sleeve shortening and size blending, this is straight out of the packet with no other fit modifications.
This fabric is a mystery satin-backed crepe that I purchased locally (Tom’s Emprium, Christchurch), which I suspect is more poly than viscose. That’s a bit of a shame, but really I bought the fabric because it looked great next to my eyes (you’ll have to take my word for it)!
I did manage to cut an earlier toile from just 165cm of 150cm wide fabric, so with the right amount of Tetris, this is an amazingly thrifty sew!
